Artistic projects on libraries, which began in 2008, will carry on in 2010. As part of this programmatic focus, another artist, Till Exit, will develop an expansive, usable work for the basement of GfZK-1, where the GfZK library has been housed since 1998, and for the ground floor. The interior – comprising lounge chairs from the 1950’s and 60’s, which Exit had collected for a temporary project – bands together public and private interiors and various contexts of time. References to the past an the present will be recalled in the design features, surfaces, textiles and colors and bridged.
Created in 1992, the GfZK library is a public reference library which holds German publications as well as books published in foreign languages on various research themes. The knowledge repository with its book collection forms an integral part of the GfZK.
